Jeff Sorbel

Jeff is a Co-Founder and lead instructor of Paragon of Jiu Jitsu in Wilmington, North Carolina. Jeff received his brown belt from Giulherme Mendes of AOJ (Art of Jiu Jitsu).  Jeff competes regularly in IBJJF tournaments.

Main Achievements (Brown Belt):

  • IBJJF Atlanta Winter Open Champion (Master 6, 2022)
  • IBJJF Orlando Summer Open Champion (Master 6 and Absolute, 2022)

Jeff began his jiu-jitsu journey almost eleven years ago when he began taking classes with his son, Jake (currently a blue belt).  Many years later, both remain jiu-jitsu enthusiasts and enjoy training together whenever possible. Jeff has a master's degree in applied Probability and Statistics from Northern Illinois University. In 2010, he and two business partners founded Triangle Biostatistics which they grew into a multi-million-dollar corporation. Jeff retired in 2019 and continues to work part-time as a consulting statistician in the pharmaceutical industry. Jeff brings his jiu-jitsu skills and considerable business acumen to the development of Paragon.

Jeff resides in Wilmington with his wife, Kym, and his son, Jake. When he is not training jiu-jitsu, Jeff enjoys flying airplanes, fishing, and scuba diving.
